During the course of the year we will be running a number of events where players compete in small teams for points over a short series of matches. Winners are awarded medals and there are prizes to be won for key key behaviours, with all players receiving certificates.
The Junior World Tour events will often take place at weekends or during schools holidays and are themed around the Grand Slam and professional tour events such as New York, Melbourne, Paris and London.
Teams compete in various fun formats over 2-3 hours with lots of prizes to be won. The Junior World Tour events are aimed at players on the programme who are new to competition and who don’t play in regular external tournaments but more experienced tournament players are welcome to attend.
Parents also love the Junior World Tour events as its great value with events typically lasting 2-3 hours. Parents are encouraged to stay and socialise with other parents and watch their children taking part. There will be a small entry fee to take part in the Junior World Tour.
With events taking place at your local club, you and your children won’t have to travel far and you know they’re in a safe and familiar environment.
Throughout the year we will be hosting a number of LTA sanctioned tournaments across different age groups as well as our own Junior World Tour and team challenge events. Below is a brief explanation of the tournament gradings.
Grade 7/Junior World Tour - this is for Strive kids only and we encourage all players on our program who are keen to get involved in competition to enter these events, which are run by their own coaches and in a friendly welcoming environment as a great introduction to competition.
Grade 6 - These are for players starting to take their tennis more seriously. We would expect players entering these tournaments to be playing twice a week, either in a second group or with their parents. Again, this is just a match play environment and is kept friendly but starting to understand what is required at competitions.
Grade 5 and above - For our best players that are fully engrossed in tennis. We would expect players to be playing more than twice a week including a weekly private lesson with one of our team. These tournaments are run following LTA regulations and more formal than Grade 6s with prizes for winners and runners up only.
